What I liked most, and what caught my attention, is the twenty-five different stories by different women. Each worked their way up from either doing something they hated or felt they weren’t pursuing their life purpose to become the entrepreneurs, businesswomen and life coaches, just to name a few, that they are today.

And since there are twenty-five stories, you’re bound to resonate with someone.

Extract From the Book

Born and raised in Austria, I was conditioned to go to school, work, marry and have children. This was considered a normal, well lived life of the average Austrian at the time I was being raised. However, for as long as I can remember, there was something intuitive telling me that I was born to do more. I was by nature, an adventurous child, who spent most days outdoors, playing in the woods and even sowing the seeds for entrepreneurship. One day during the summer holidays, I sparked off an idea to sell homemade stationary at the side of the road to by-passers. My arts and crafts skills were probably not up to scratch, and at the time I really didn’t care. Looking back, it was a bit of fun, however the biggest lesson was that I allowed myself to be free and I truly ‘went for it’ without fear of failure or being judged.

For me, this was the turning point. I remembered how playful and ‘free spirited’ I was as a child. So it dawned on me, that my mission was to create a platform for women entrepreneurs, to help them reduce the overwhelming challenges of starting and running a business, avoiding costly mistakes and detours. This is when I decided to launch “Reach for Greatness”. Within the space of 3 years, it has developed into a thriving platform that integrates “The Greatness Club” as well as an exclusive Mastermind, called “The Business Accelerator”. Women learn to develop their entrepreneurial skill set and strategies to implement and run a successful business at various levels. My programmes also focus on creating a balance between business and personal growth, supported by collaborate opportunities to become more visible. This series of books was inspired by this vision.

One day as I lay on the sofa in the living room, I physically froze. Although my body felt like it was paralysed, my eyes felt like they were seeing my children for the first time through a very different lens and I realised that I had to live, if not for me, then for them. Something very strange happened in that moment, something I had never felt before. It was as if I was on the outside looking in and if you have ever seen a slow motion, silent scene in a movie, then that is the perfect way to describe that moment in my life. Everything was quiet. The children, who were playing were silent as I watched them. Peace descended. Ease took over. My intuition found its voice and the voice said, “You need to help yourself.” The words flashed before my eyes and my mind made its resolution.

25 Different Stories

I liked reading about the different backgrounds of all these women and seeing where they came from. Some might’ve been depressed and needed a wake-up call, others got divorced, or turned to their faith. For most, they had the opportunity to change their lives but some didn’t get the same opportunities depending on where they grew up.

One of the stories that caught my attention was by Faith Rodriguez titled “Having Faith.” She can see spirits and over time tried to deny her gifts, but she kept feeling a pull to do something greater than being a stay-at-home mom. She met a medium who helped her change her life so she could use her gifts to open a business and teach spiritual classes.

Now, being 24, I couldn’t relate to everyone, since I’m not an overworked mom or I don’t have my own business (although one could argue this blog is one) but when it comes to being held down by depression or stuck at a job you hate, anyone of any age can relate to that.

It’s just about taking that step and realizing you deserve and are worth more.

Quotes to Keep You Motivated

It’s small, but one of the things I enjoyed most about the book is the quotes from each woman before their chapter started. I loved the starry, space background behind their quotes, which lead you into their story and gave you a preface for what they believe or what their story could be about.

Overall

It shouldn’t matter if you’re a man or woman, this book can be read by anyone. There’s a lot of diversity amongst the women whether it’s their race, religion, where they come from, or what they do, and there’s at least one story out there for someone to connect to in the right way that might help them get started on their own adventure.

My one quibble is, and it’s nothing huge, but at times I wished the stories were longer. I wanted to learn more about certain women and how they got to where they are. This leads me to my next point which is, it’s a quick read. I managed to read it all over a free weekend, but nonetheless, enjoyed all the stories.

And it being a short book isn’t a bad thing. Maybe it’s just what you need if you’re short on time but need that burst of inspiration. As someone who is working a job they hate, it helped me reevaluate why I’m still there, and whether I should move onto doing things I enjoy and if a book can motivate me to do that, then I’d recommend it.
