February 2020 Roundup

A recap of my favorite books, movies, tv, and life from February.

Personal

Oh, where to start this…

  • At the beginning of the month, I was still on muscle relaxers for my back strain but planned on getting back into exercising and strengthening the muscle, which I started to do and then…
  • I got bronchitis. For almost a week I didn’t know, just assumed it was from a sore throat. Then my family doctor misdiagnosed me and gave me an inhaler, which didn’t do anything. So I went to a medical express, got the right medicine, and finally started to get better (after almost two weeks…)
  • But it put me behind with posting and working on other goals. I didn’t feel like writing, reading, eating, socializing, or doing much of anything except go to work, hate it, come home, and try to rest.
  • By the end of the month, I slowly got back into writing, working out, and just feeling like myself.
  • Cat update, for those wondering about the cats living in my garage: I’m pretty sure the black one is there all the time. It still hides but I can usually find it watching me when I feed them. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the orange one in a while and I’m hoping someone took it in or it went home. The last I saw of it was walking up to my neighbor’s porch, so maybe it’s living in their house?
  • Update for the update: the day after I posted this the orange cat showed up, which excited me…until my dog also noticed the cat and ran into the garage. She’s never interacted with them before, only smelled. Luna chased the cat around my dad’s truck a few times before the cat swatted her across the face, cutting her around the eye. It wasn’t big and I don’t believe Luna would hurt them and obviously, the orange cat was protecting itself. It was chaos though.

Favorites

Limetown

Limetown is a fictional podcast that follows the mysterious disappearance of 300+ people from the town of Limetown. I listened to the entire first season in one morning (so the episodes aren’t super long) and kept wanting to know more. Why did so many people disappear? And what was actually going on in the town?

This one is a big recommendation if you’re into these types of podcasts, but it’s also a good mystery to get sucked into.

The Witcher

This wasn’t on my list of shows to watch, but my sister turned it on and I was hooked. There’s more humor than I expected, I find the world interesting with a mixture of magic, creatures, and people, and the different timelines keep your attention.

“Toss A Coin To Your Witcher” Metal Cover

If you’re a fan of the show and haven’t seen this cover, I’d recommend watching. It’s so easy to get stuck listening on repeat for hours as if the song doesn’t do that on its own.

Lego Masters

The show is exactly what it sounds like: expert Lego builders competing for Lego Master. The builds are pretty incredible and Will Arnett is a funny host who actually engages with the builders. I wasn’t into Lego as a kid but remember my cousin was, so it makes you wonder if you or someone you know could’ve gone somewhere with it.

Accomplishments

  • I finally sent my book to some beta readers. I spent months getting anxious over the idea but just did it and got some new feedback.
  • Somehow, my blog views beat last month’s, so this is my most viewed month ever.
  • Posted once a week despite feeling like crap.

It sucks I didn’t get much accomplished but I hope I got all the bullshit out of the way for the year. Good luck to everyone and their goals and if you don’t have any, have a good month anyway.

So glad to read you are feeling better, Meagan! Feeling ill is horrible and it’s hard to get anything done. Oh no, the dog and cat incident did sound chaotic, hope Luna wasn’t hurt too badly. Congrats on the high blog views, that’s awesome! Hope you have a good month and all the best with your March goals! ❤ xx

*TOSS A COIN TO YOUR WITCHER O’ VALLEY OF PLENTY O’ VALLEY OF PLENTY oh-OH-OH* THIS SONG. it’s just perfectly sticks to you, gets stuck in your head, wraps around you and manipulates you to unconciously sing it repeatedly (and you only realize half way through that you started to sing it again.) it’s good like that lmao. ps: i adore the incredibles gif at the end lol.

I’m so sorry you were sick, but I’m glad you’re finally feeling better! Despite being sick, it does sound like you got a bit done this month! I’m so proud of you for sending out your book to readers! I hope you got some good feedback 🙂 And that Lego Masters show sounds like so much fun! How did I not know it was on?? I’m always missing out, haha. And I’m glad the cats in the garage are doing okay, despite the incident with Luna (poor Luna!).

I can’t wait to see what you get up to in March!

Oh… makes sense I guess *shrugs*

We have NHS Direct/out of hours (which you can also use in-hours if you’re not sure what service you should go to,) where they’ll advise you where to go or else send a doctor to you if they think you can’t get to the GPs (family doctor) but don’t think you need Accident & Emergency.

Or if you’re in office hours, you phone the GP and hope you can get an ’emergency’ same-day appointment, where you sit in the GPs waiting room until they have time to see you, or a phone appointment.

Some places also have a ‘minor injuries’ unit in the hospital where you can walk in – but there’s less of those.
