He means more to me than you will ever know.
Rather than a regular review of the entire season, I’m going to do a short review of each episode individually, because I assume if you’re reading this, you probably watch the show any way.
Obviously spoilers, but I will try not to spoil everything from this season. And I know they have actual names and Baby Yoda is always referred to as “The Child” but I call them Mando and Baby Yoda so that’s what they’ll be referred to at the start.
However, here is my review for the first three episodes of season one, spoiler-free.
Chapter 9: The Marshal
I thought this was a great way to start off the season. It showed how comfortable Mando and Baby Yoda are around each other and the beginnings of how much Baby Yoda means to Mando. Mando is looking for other Mandalorians and even though he didn’t find exactly what he was looking for, it set up for something bigger in the season.

Chapter 10: The Passenger
This was probably my least favorite episode this season, and I’m not saying it wasn’t good, I definitely cared about that frog-lady getting her eggs to her husband and she had information for Mando so it wasn’t a waste, but it felt like it teetered too far off from the original mission. I won’t even mention Baby Yoda and the eggs…
Chapter 11: The Heiress
I liked meeting Bo-Katan and her Nite Owls. It was nice to see a different side of Mandalorians and it made me wonder if Mando would start to view “the way” differently. We know Bo is looking for the Dark Saber and Moff Gideon so I assumed she would return later in the season. Plus, she told Mando to find Ahsoka Tano, who I was very excited about.

Chapter 12: The Siege
Mando and Baby Yoda met up with Greef Karga and Cara Dune and I loved Greef’s reaction to seeing Baby Yoda again, then putting him in school. We got more insight into what Gideon is doing and Baby Yoda stole some cookies. This was the last episode that felt “comfortable” and we knew everything would turn out fine.
Chapter 13: The Jedi
I just started The Clone Wars so I kind of knew Ahsoka going into the episode but I loved this version of her. It was nice to see a different Force user and I think Rosario Dawson did great. We learned Baby Yoda’s aka Grogu’s name, his past, and officially that he sees Mando as his dad, but that leads to dark-side feelings (something I don’t agree with but okay) so she won’t train him (although, I think Grogu asked her not to take him so he could stay with Mando.)
Chapter 14: The Tragedy
I completely forgot about the title of this episode after it started. I think I was in denial something bad would happen. I wasn’t someone who LOVED Boba Fett before this episode but it added so much more to his character and even I liked seeing him back in his armor. But of course, Grogu getting taken was the gut punch. However, I loved seeing him throw those stormtroopers around.
I also liked that Cara wasn’t going to help Mando until he mentioned Grogu was gone.
Chapter 15: The Believer
I was so impressed with this episode. I wasn’t sure how it would go after getting Mayfield to help but they gave him so much character development and this was only his second episode. Plus, Mando taking off the helmet just did it for me. If people still questioned how much Grogu meant to him, well just watch the last scene, and maybe you’ll cry like I did.
I spent the entire week with a pit of anxiety in my stomach before the finale.
Chapter 16: The Rescue
Something was wrong with my brain that morning because even though I knew not to get on Twitter on my laptop, since it shows the trending page on the side, I still did it and got spoiled. However, that doesn’t take away from how awesome it was to see Luke Skywalker in his prime.
From Mando taking all women with him and them taking out all the stormtroopers like it was nothing and of course, Mando and Grogu’s goodbye. I was crying, again, and even though I know Grogu needed to go with Luke, I still didn’t want him to. Can’t Luke just have classes three days a week and Mando drops him off?
Even though I wanted nothing more than for Grogu to stay with Mando, it was still one of the best episodes.
Overall
The Mandalorian season 2 was easily one of the best things to come out of this year. I remember being antsy the week ahead and that feeling stayed through most of the season. Like I said, I just started watching The Clone Wars but it was so cool to see them bring some of those characters to live-action, especially Ahsoka.
I think it was always in the back of our minds that when Mando found someone to train Grogu, they’d have to part ways, but I still wasn’t ready for it. I’m hoping they reunite next season but I’m wondering how long that will be. Will it be years or will Grogu be stubborn for Luke and Luke’s like, “He won’t listen to me, take him back.”
Because that’s why we (well, I assume most of us) like this show: Mando and Grogu. I loved watching them and how much of a dad Mando’s become. I guess the only thing for him to do before Grogu comes back is to help Bo-Katan take back Mandalore…if she would just take the Darksaber.
What did you think of The Mandalorian season 2?
