Why am I doing an update five days into the challenge? Because I’m 11,000 words in.
Acchoda’s Reef is a story I’ve been working on for months. I’ve taken a writing course and used it with assignments. I’ve thought about it constantly and where I want the story to go. It was only a few days ago I had my “eureka” moment for the ending.
Okay, it helps that I didn’t have internet the first two days it started. Sure I worked, but I wrote on my break and I had one day off. Again no internet, so I had nothing else to do but Insanity.
I feel that I’m doing so well because I think about the story so much and I’m passionate about the main concept: mythological creatures and fantasy lands. It’s weird I had such a hard time getting started months ago, but just waiting all those weeks for NaNoWriMo to start all of the scenes and dialogue have been building up in my head. And it’s all coming out.
I’m having a blast. I’m loving the story. It’s not great, obviously it’s a first draft, but I’m still thinking up different ideas to put in there. Sometimes I have to get weird, like go into weird places in my head.
However, it is getting into my blogging schedule. At least I have an excuse this time.
Wow. 11,000 words is quite impressive! I’ve been distracted and can’t seem to stop editing and rewriting as I go, so now I’m 1800 words behind schedule. I finally figured out an action plan to prevent unnecessary editing and rewrites. I hope it works.

Thank you! I totally get what you mean about going back to edit and rewrite. It physically hurts to just ignore the urge. It’s the reason I failed last year, but I’m sure you’ll finish 🙂
